Run by the Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM). DL 14/95/M (in force 1 Apr 1995) let holders of relevant investments settle, including funds of at least MOP 1 million placed permanently in real estate or other productive assets (MOP 500,000 in property for Hong Kong retirees); permits for 3 years, renewable. RA 3/2005 (in force 4 Apr 2005) replaced it with residence for relevant investments or investment plans and a separate property-purchase route (property of at least MOP 1 million bought without credit, plus MOP 500,000 on term deposit and a degree); RA 7/2007 suspended the property route from 4 Apr 2007. The managerial and technical personnel routes of the same regime are talent routes, not in scope (technical personnel moved to Law 7/2023 from 1 Jul 2023). Launched 1984-01-01: in-force date of Decree-Law 50/83/M (official gazette copy from an archived snapshot); it was soon repealed by DL 3/84/M, and DL 14/95/M later refers to investor applications pending under DL 3/84/M. IPIM publishes yearly counts; new major-investment applications have been few since 2020 (0-6 a year).
