Residence for investors

Sells the right to live in the country (a “golden visa”), sometimes leading to citizenship later.

Official name: Mexico temporary residence as investor (residente temporal, supuesto de inversionista: Ley de Migración 2011, Reglamento 2012, Lineamientos para trámites y procedimientos migratorios 2012)

Lowest price when it closed: not determined

Set in days of minimum wage (20,000 days of the Mexico City general minimum wage), not in a fixed currency amount, and the current rules were not confirmed.

Notes from the research

Temporary residence (up to four years) for foreigners who hold shares in a Mexican company or fixed assets used for business worth 20,000 days of the general minimum wage of the Federal District (Mexico City), or whose business creates at least five formal jobs. Set in the 2012 migration procedure guidelines (in force the day after publication on 8 Nov 2012). Amounts are expressed in days of minimum wage, not pesos; whether they were later converted to UMA units or changed, and the consular visa criteria in the 2014 visa guidelines, were not checked, so current status is left blank. No statistics on investor residence cards were found. Naturalisation follows general rules (not researched).
