Residence·Status unclear·since 1993

Nicaragua residence as investor (residente inversionista, Ley 761 Ley General de Migración y Extranjería arts. 32, 35; nationality for investor residents art. 55)

Sells the right to live in the country (a “golden visa”), sometimes leading to citizenship later.

Notes from the research

Investor residence for foreigners who invest capital in any lawful economic activity, or in state or national financial-institution securities and bonds; investor status certified by MIFIC, requirements set by regulation (Decreto 31-2012, not read). Investor residents who have set up an industry or activity contributing to development may naturalise after two years of permanent residence. No amount in the law; press and industry cite USD 30,000 (not confirmed from an official text). Launched 1993-05-30: Ley 153 (La Gaceta 80 of 30 April 1993), which creates the 'inmigrante con capital' category, comes into force 30 days after publication (date computed); it repealed Decreto 1031 of 1982, which was not read. Ley 761 (in force August 2011) continues the category. In scope under decision 15 (refined): the law leaves the amount to regulation, so the investment rule is recorded with the amount unset.
