Long-Term Resident visa (wealthy citizens)

Sells the right to live in the country (a “golden visa”), sometimes leading to citizenship later.

Official name: Long-Term Resident (LTR) visa - Wealthy Global Citizens category

Lowest price for one person: US$500,000

US$500,000 in Thai government bonds, companies or property, plus US$1 million in assets (which may include it; t-71c5501c54). Amount as published 2025-26; whether the same at launch not checked.

Notes from the research

Ten-year renewable visa run by the Board of Investment, open since 1 September 2022, in four categories; only 'Wealthy Global Citizens' requires an investment: US$500,000 in Thai government bonds, Thai companies or Thai property, plus US$1m in assets and health insurance. Visa fee 50,000 baht per person. No route to permanent residence or citizenship is part of the scheme. The text creating the visa (Cabinet resolution and implementing announcements) is not stored: 'launched' is the day applications opened, as stated by the Board of Investment, not the founding text's in-force date.

Thailand Privilege Card

Sells the right to live in the country (a “golden visa”), sometimes leading to citizenship later.

Official name: Thailand Privilege Card (Thailand Elite until 2023)

Lowest price for one person: ฿650,000

A non-refundable membership fee, not an investment; it is what buys the long-stay visa, so it is the price. Bronze (5 years) THB 650,000; Gold THB 900,000 (t-fe90282c4d).

Notes from the research

Paid membership sold by Thailand Privilege Card Co. (formerly Thailand Elite Card Co.), a state enterprise owned by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, that comes with a long-stay 'privilege entry' visa for the membership period plus concierge services. It is a fee, not an investment that can be recovered. Packages before October 2023 (Thailand Elite) are discontinued; since then Gold (900,000 baht, 5 years), Platinum (1.5m, 10 years), Diamond (2.5m, 15 years), Reserve (5m, 20 years) and Bronze (650,000 baht, 5 years). No route to permanent residence or citizenship. 'launched' is the date of the Cabinet resolution (29 July 2003) that set up the company to run the membership card project, per the company's 2025 annual report; the resolution states no separate in-force date, and the date the first cards were sold is not in a stored document.
