Viet Nam investor visas and temporary residence cards ĐT1-ĐT3 (Law 47/2014/QH13 as amended by Law 51/2019/QH14, art. 8(7a)-(7c), arts. 9, 38)
Sells the right to live in the country (a “golden visa”), sometimes leading to citizenship later.
Notes from the research
Since 1 Jul 2020 (Law 51/2019/QH14) foreign investors are classed by capital contributed: ĐT1 VND 100 billion or more (or priority sectors/areas set by the Government) with a temporary residence card of up to 10 years; ĐT2 VND 50-100 billion (or encouraged sectors) up to 5 years; ĐT3 VND 3-50 billion up to 3 years; ĐT4 under VND 3 billion (visa only, no minimum). Before, Law 47/2014/QH13 (in force 1 Jan 2015, legal_basis) had a single investor visa class without amounts (original text not stored; stated in the consolidated text's footnotes only as the amended items). Included under decision 15 as business residence with stated minimum amounts; ĐT4 has none. No route to permanent residence through investment in this law. No official counts by class found.
