Zambia investor's permit (Immigration and Deportation Act 2010 s. 29; Zambia Development Agency Act 2006 s. 65)
Sells the right to live in the country (a “golden visa”), sometimes leading to citizenship later.
Notes from the research
A foreigner who invests the prescribed financial or capital contribution in a business (or holds a ZDA investment licence) gets an investor's permit (Immigration and Deportation Act 2010 s. 29); after more than three years on it he may get a residence permit. The ZDA Act 2006 s. 65(1) entitles an investor who invests at least USD 250,000 and employs a minimum of two hundred persons (as printed) to a self-employment or residence permit. 'launched' left empty: the ZDA Act, the earliest official text found tying a stated investment to residence, came into force by a statutory instrument that is not stored; the date printed under its long title (19 May 2006) is kept as a 'legal' event; the 1965 Immigration Act was not researched. The current prescribed amount is not in the Acts read: secondary sources give USD 250,000 for a new business and USD 150,000 to join an existing one, which was not confirmed officially. Whether the ZDA Act 2006 is still in force was not checked, so status is left empty. No official counts found.
